Alphabet Project Begins with ACHILLEA
July 8, 2010
Margaretha Haughwout holds freshly-cut achillea, known commonly as yarrow. For the first day of the Alphabet Project, Margaretha made a wound wash from alchillea growing at Hayes Valley Farm, a new urban farm in her neighborhood.
Margaretha, myself, and others will be traversing the alphabet, working with two letters each week beginning with A and ending in Z.
Open Invitations to Participate
Everyone is welcome to participate in the project by picking a letter of the alphabet and doing an interpretive planting, cooking, homesteading, or creative action.
We’ll be building Alphabet Gardens, tinctures, and installations in San Francisco, sister cities, and on the web. So far we’re working with Hayes Valley Farm, Edible Office, A Living Library in Chinatown, and the Drupal Open Garden Project. We’ll celebrate the completion of the project on 10/10/10, the day of 350.org’s Global Work Party.
